📖 Selected Readings

  1. This piece by Lewis Bollard outlines the major gains for farmed animals in 2024.
  2. A new study from Anthropic and Redwood Research examines whether large language models, especially Claude, can appear strategically aligned during training. The research has important implications because it shows that advanced AI models may engage in deceptive behavior in order to preserve their goals.
  3. Many effective altruists believe that advice from organizations like 80,000 Hours and from the broader community will put them on a suitable high-impact career path. This article argues that people should give less weight to effective altruist organizations and “experts” when making career decisions, and instead take a more proactive role in charting their own paths.
