Co-Director
A sociology graduate of METU, Ceren specializes in customer experience design and community organizing. She is the community and communications manager at Health Progress Hub and previously served on the United Nations Development Programme's communications team.
Ceren Devrim Karabulut, a graduate of the Sociology Department at Middle East Technical University, contributes to the development of the effective altruism movement in Turkey as the co-director of Effective Altruism Turkey. Her areas of expertise are customer experience design and community organizing. Ceren also serves as the community and communications manager at a non-governmental organization called Health Progress Hub, which provides recruitment support to high-impact health policy associations and organizes training programs for early- to mid-career professionals. Previously, as part of the communications team during her tenure at the United Nations Development Programme, she managed the social media accounts for the Sustainable Development Goals.

Co-Director
Dr. Fırat Akova, who completed his PhD on effective altruism at the University of Warwick, is the founder of Effective Altruism Türkiye. He has researched global priorities at Oxford's Global Priorities Institute, lectured in philosophy at Koç University, and is currently a Senior Research Fellow at Power for Democracies.
Dr. Fırat Akova works as a Senior Research Fellow at Power for Democracies, where he identifies the world's most effective pro-democracy organizations. He has conducted research on artificial intelligence at the Centre for Governance of AI and Future Impact Group. He worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Koç University. He carried out research on global problems within a research programme organized by the Global Priorities Institute at the University of Oxford and was selected as a Global Priorities Fellow by the Forethought Foundation for Global Priorities Research. He completed his PhD on effective altruism in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Warwick, where he also worked as a research assistant. He is the founder of Effective Altruism Türkiye.

Most of our events are held in Turkish; some programs and resources may be in English. Each program's language is stated on its application page.
Programs typically involve a few hours of reading and discussion per week; you can join events as often as you like.
